How To Install Roman Shades

Outside Mount

Things You'll Need

•   L brackets - included

•   1 ¼ inch Phillips Head screws - included

•   Tape measure

•   Drill and screwdriver

•   Pencil

•   A friend

1.       Hold the shade up to the window in the position you would like it installed.

2.       Approximately 2 inches in from the left edge of the shade, place an L bracket so that one side of the L rests against the wall and the other rests against the bottom of the Roman Shade mount board forming an upside down “L”.  Use a pencil to mark where the screws will be drilled through both sides of the L bracket – one on the wall and one on the bottom of the Roman Shade mounting board.

3.       Repeat step 3 on the right side of the shade.

4.       Pre-drill all the pencil marks with a drill bit the same size or slightly smaller than the diameter of the screws

5.       Screw an L bracket into the wall in the formation of an upside down “L” in the location of the predrilled holes.

6.       Have a friend help you by holding the Roman Shade in the correct position on the window where the L brackets properly line up with the holes drilled into the Roman Shade mounting board.

7.       Then, working from below, use the drill to screw the top of the L bracket to the bottom of your Roman Shade mounting board. Done!

Tips & Warnings

Make sure the areas where you are installing the L brackets have good support. If needed, use wall anchors for added support.

Note: for all shades greater than 45 inches wide, we recommend adding a third L bracket in the center.

How to Install Roman Shades - Inside Mount

Things You'll Need

•   1 ¼ inch Phillips Head screws – included

•   Wall anchors – not included

•   Tape measure

•   Drill and screwdriver

•   Pencil

•   A friend

1.       Approximately 2 inches in from the left edge of the shade, use a pencil to mark the underside of the shade mounting board, where the screws will be drilled through the mounting board and then into the window casement.

2.       Repeat on the right side of the shade

3.       Hold the shade up to the window in the position you would like it installed.

4.       Predrill the holes in the locations that you marked with a pencil up through the bottom of the shade mounting board into the window casement.

5.       Drill the screws from the bottom of the shade mounting board in the predrilled locations.

Note: for all shades greater than 45 inches wide, we recommend adding a third screw in the center for added stability.

If you are drilling into drywall instead of a wooden window casement, wall anchors would then be necessary.
