Relaxed Roman Shades - The gentle sag in the center of the Relaxed Roman Shade creates a more casual but elegant look. Recommended for roman shades that are mainly left in the up position.
Make sure to choose your style of roman shade wisely. Some roman shade styles are more decorative, such as the Relaxed and London shade styles, and should be considered in situations where the shade will be raised and lowered a minimal amount. Other roman shade styles, such as the Flat and Hobbled shades, are the most functional and are recommended in situations where you anticipate raising and lowering the shade multiple times a day.
Are you considering thermal roman shades? If so, you may want to choose blackout lining for your custom roman shades. Dream Drapes blackout lining offers light control, energy conservation as well as noise control due to its' insulating properties. Roman shades lined with our blackout lining are perfect for bedrooms or nurseries where light or noise may cause problems. The newer “soft feel” of our blackout lining is not the stiff, plastic old fashioned blackout lining you may remember from the past.
If you are considering a roman shade over 50 inches wide, or if you anticipate raising and lowering your shade frequently, Dream Drapes recommends adding a Rollease Clutch to your shade. You might be asking yourself, “What is a Rollease Clutch and why would I need one?” A clutch assists you in raising and lowering the roman shades by providing equal tension across the top of the entire shade. A clutch works using the principal of a pulley where you pull down on the back of the cord in the shape of a loop to rotate the clutch to raise the shade, and you pull down on the front of the cord to lower the shade. The clutch makes heavy roman shades feel light and ensures that the shade stays level in all positions. Please note that the clutch is not a motorized system. You will still have to manually raise and lower your roman shade with the inclusion of a clutch.
Dream Drapes does not recommend using fabric roman shades in rooms frequented by young children where full adult supervision is not possible at all times of the day and night. Some instances have been noted where children have been strangled by the cords found underneath fabric shades when these children have placed their heads underneath the shade. If you are concerned about child strangulation possibilities of your roman shades, Dream Drapes can child proof your roman shades for an additional charge by burying the cords underneath fabric tapes making it impossible for children to wrap the shade cords around their heads.
